Description
The Tokina 50-135mm T2.9 Mark II is a par-focal Super 35 cinema zoom with no focus shift while zooming, updated from its T3.0 predecessor with a constant T2.9 aperture and a 2.7x zoom ratio.
Build
An enhanced all-metal housing suits video and digital cinema use, with 300° manual focus rotation, a distance scale in feet, and a click-less aperture ring for smooth iris pulls. Focus, aperture and zoom rings all use 0.8-pitch gears for follow-focus compatibility.
Optics
Two aspherical elements with multi-layer coatings give high contrast and sharpness, and a 9-blade iris produces pleasing bokeh while reducing diffraction at small apertures. A common 95mm front diameter fits professional matte boxes, with an 86mm filter thread.
