Description
The Canon EVF-V70 is a 0.7-inch OLED electronic viewfinder for Canon Cinema EOS cameras. It suits shoulder-mounted and handheld work, where the operator needs a shaded, close-up view of the image. In addition, the eyepiece blocks ambient light, so exposure stays easier to judge outdoors.
Judging focus and exposure
The 1920 x 1080 OLED panel aims to match Canon’s colour space, which helps when judging the picture on set. Zebra and false colour displays give exposure references directly in the viewfinder. Focus pullers and operators can also use magnification to check critical focus.
Controls at the eye
Four assignable buttons put common camera functions next to the eyepiece. A navigation joystick and select dial also make menu changes possible without leaving the viewfinder. Because the buttons are self-illuminating, they remain easy to find in dark studios and night exteriors.
Camera compatibility
Canon designed the EVF-V70 for the EOS C700, and it also works with the C500 Mark II and C300 Mark III. Canon’s documentation lists the C200 and C300 Mark II as well. However, mounting hardware differs by camera, so tell us your body when booking.
