Description
The Blackmagic ATEM Mini is a compact four-input HDMI switcher for small live productions. It suits webinars, panel discussions and presentations that need clean cuts between cameras. In addition, its USB output works like a webcam, so streaming software can take the program feed directly.
Switching on the day
Each HDMI input has its own format and frame rate converter, so mixed sources can still switch cleanly. The built-in control panel handles cuts, transitions and picture-in-picture without a computer. For more involved shows, ATEM Software Control also opens up the keyers, media pool and audio mixer.
Audio and outputs
Two 3.5mm stereo inputs connect microphones directly to the switcher. The Fairlight tools then add compression, limiting and EQ. Meanwhile, the HDMI output sends the program feed to a projector or monitor.
ATEM Mini or ATEM Mini Pro?
This non-Pro model streams through a connected computer over USB. However, it has no built-in Ethernet streaming or USB disk recording. If your shoot needs either feature, consider the ATEM Mini Pro instead.
