Sony RM-IP500 PTZ Camera Remote Controller

$0

Hardware joystick controller for Sony’s PTZ and ILME-FR7 cameras, giving an operator tactile pan/tilt/zoom control, presets and Trace Memory over IP for multicam productions.

Description

The Sony RM-IP500 is a dedicated hardware controller for Sony’s PTZ camera range, including the full-frame ILME-FR7 Cinema Line camera. It puts pan, tilt, zoom and camera-menu access on a physical joystick panel. So an operator can run multiple robotic cameras from a single position off set.

Ergonomic joystick control

A high-quality joystick handles pan and tilt with one hand. Zoom runs from either the joystick ring or a separate seesaw lever.

Three independent speed dials cover pan/tilt, zoom and focus. So operators can dial movements from a slow creep to a fast reframe. As a result, camera moves look deliberate rather than jerky, even when a single operator is juggling several angles.

In addition, six assignable buttons give direct access to exposure, white balance, black level and other paint settings. There’s no need to dig through an on-screen menu. On the FR7 specifically, the RM-IP500 can also start and stop recording. It can also adjust variable ND and focus area straight from the panel.

Control up to 100 cameras over IP

The controller manages up to 100 compatible Sony BRC/SRG series and ILME-FR7 PTZ cameras over a standard IP network. As a result, it assigns IP addresses and camera numbers automatically on set-up.

Operators can store and recall up to 100 presets from the numeric keypad. In addition, Trace Memory records a full sequence of moves for instant playback whenever the same shot comes up again.

Up to five RM-IP500 units can share a single network. As a result, larger multicam rigs can split control across several operators, with no one stepping on another’s camera.

Where it fits on a shoot

This controller is the standard companion for any shoot already running Sony PTZ cameras or an FR7. It replaces browser-based control with tactile, on-set access. It suits live event coverage, for example, along with panel and conference recording, broadcast studios and multicam productions. In these settings, the operator needs to react quickly across several fixed camera positions.
