Optics
Three extra-low dispersion elements and one XA element control chromatic and spherical aberration for sharp, clear images, with Nano AR coating limiting ghosting and flare. An 11-blade circular diaphragm gives smooth, soft-edged bokeh.
Handling
A linear SSM autofocus system gives quick, quiet focus and responsive manual control, with a focus hold button, AF/MF switch and a de-clickable aperture ring for silent adjustment during video. Dust- and moisture-sealed, with rubberised control rings for cold-weather handling. On APS-C bodies the lens gives a 127.5mm equivalent field of view.
