Description
The NiSi Cinema 4×5.65″ True Color Rotating PL Polarizing Filter cuts glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces. It also keeps colour accurate. Many polarizers push footage warm, but NiSi’s True Color coating holds skies, foliage, and skin tones true to life. As a result, a DOP can polarize a shot without fighting it back in the grade.
Built for a working matte box
The filter sits in a 6mm-thick aluminium-alloy tray. This tray drops straight into a standard 4×5.65″ matte box. So there is no rigging workaround needed on set. Its edges are also sealed against moisture. In addition, the aluminium frame includes a 1/4″ thread. This lets the assembly mount independently on a magic arm when it is not riding in the box.
Motorised or manual rotation
An M0.8 focus control gear runs around the filter ring. So the polarization angle can be adjusted by hand or driven by a lens motor. That makes it straightforward to dial in the effect during a take, rather than resetting between shots. As a result, the filter fits naturally into a wireless follow-focus setup alongside the rest of the lens kit.
On-set use
This is a true optical polarizer, not a digital fix. So it removes reflections off glass, water, and other non-metallic surfaces in-camera. That makes it useful on several types of shoots:
- Car interiors
- Product shoots
- Water and window work
- Exteriors where reducing glare and boosting sky saturation matters
In each case, the result is hard to fully recover later in post.
