Description
The Laowa 8-15mm T2.9 FF Zoom Fisheye Cine is a full-frame cinema fisheye that covers two distinct looks in one housing. Rack the zoom to 8mm for a full circular fisheye at 180°, or zoom to 15mm for a rectangular full-frame fisheye that fills the sensor edge to edge. Both live in the one lens, with no adapters or lens swap required mid-shoot.
One lens, two fisheye looks
Circular fisheye is a distinctive, self-contained frame within the sensor — useful for VR-style POV shots, inserts and stylised sequences. Zooming to 15mm switches to a conventional rectangular frame with heavy barrel distortion still present, giving full-frame coverage with no cropping. A constant T2.9 aperture holds across the whole zoom range, so exposure doesn’t shift as the operator racks between the two looks.
Built for close, aggressive framing
Minimum focus is just 16cm, letting an operator get right into a subject for an exaggerated, bug-eye perspective. That combination of extreme wide coverage and very close focus suits action sequences, music videos and practical VFX plates as much as it does narrative work.
Standard cine housing and controls
Focus, iris and zoom all run on 0.8 MOD gears in the usual cine positions, so it drops straight into an existing follow focus and matte box setup. Supplied in PL mount.
