Description
The Laowa 12mm Zero-D is an ultra-wide-angle full-frame PL-mount lens with a 122° field of view, suited to outdoor, landscape and tight interior shots.
Coverage and Optics
The image circle covers full-frame, VistaVision and ARRI Alexa Mini LF-sized sensors or smaller, and the PL mount works across digital cinematography cameras generally. A maximum aperture of T2.9 across 16 elements in 10 groups gives a shallow depth of field with little distortion, and a 7-blade aperture keeps bokeh soft. Close focus reaches 7 inches.
Build
Lightweight and compact, the 12mm suits handheld and gimbal work. Industry-standard 0.8-pitch gearing fits standard cine follow-focus motors, and the 102mm front diameter converts to 114mm with the included adapter to fit standard matte boxes. Focus, aperture and depth-of-field markings run in feet on the lens barrel.
