The GoPro HERO9 Black shoots up to 5K30 video and 20MP photos from a new 23.6MP sensor, with HyperSmooth 3.0 stabilisation for smooth footage without a gimbal.
Video and Stabilisation
HyperSmooth 3.0 adds in-camera horizon levelling up to 45° of tilt via the Linear + Horizon Leveling lens. TimeWarp 3.0 covers time-lapse on the move with a Speed Ramp feature for Real Speed (with audio) or Half Speed. The camera streams live at 1080p via the GoPro app, or connects to a computer as a 1080p HD webcam.
Build and Handling
A larger front display gives a live preview for vlogging alongside the 2.3″ rear touchscreen with touch zoom. The housing is waterproof to 10m without an external case, with an optional dive housing for deeper water. A flip-out 2-prong mount attaches directly to over 45 GoPro mounting accessories, and a 1720mAh battery gives 30% longer life than the HERO8. HindSight captures 30 seconds of footage before the record button is pressed, and optional Max Lens, Light and Media mods expand the camera’s capability with wide FOV, LED light and external mic input.
