Description
The Blackmagic PYXIS 6K is a full-frame box camera built for rigs, gimbals and drones, with a 36x24mm sensor — three times the area of Super 35 — for rich tonal depth and shallow depth of field.
Sensor and Recording
The full-frame sensor shoots native 6K (6048×4032) with 13 stops of dynamic range, dual-native ISO of 400 and 3200 (expandable to 25,600), and Gen 5 colour science. Blackmagic RAW (12-bit) and H.264 proxy files record simultaneously across dual hot-swappable CFexpress Type-B slots, or directly to an external SSD via USB-C, with a 10-minute pre-record buffer.
Build and Mount
The box-camera design carries mounting threads on all sides for drones, gimbals, jibs, shoulder rigs and vehicle mounts, weighing 1.5kg body-only. The Leica L mount, with customisable side plates, is compatible with Leica, Panasonic Lumix S and Sigma L-mount lenses.
Monitoring and Connectivity
A 4″ HDR touchscreen at 1500 nits stays readable in direct sunlight, with face/object detection autofocus and Bluetooth remote control up to 9m. Mini XLR and 3.5mm audio inputs cover external and built-in microphones, and 12G-SDI plus 10G Ethernet support external monitoring, Blackmagic Cloud upload and built-in SRT/RTMP live streaming.
