The Atomos Sumo 19 has a bright colour-accurate 19″ LCD screen and 4K recording capabilities. The Sumo 19″ has HDR and Recorder/Switcher capabilities. Included are built-in monitoring tools that also work with HDR rendering. Additionally, the Atomos Sumo can record incoming DCI and UHD 4K video in various formats. These include Apple ProRes or AVID DNxHR to Master Caddy II storage media. With supported cameras, ProRes Raw/Raw HQ recording is also possible. The AtomOS 9.2 firmware update enables SDI quad-HD switching and five-channel recording. For example, this enables recording and switching of up to four ISO channels in a resolution up to 1080p60.
Features of the Atomos Sumo 19
Quad-HD Live Switching and 5-Channel Recording
The AtomOS 9.2 firmware update enables SDI quad-HD switching and five-channel recording. This allows you to record and switch up to four ISO channels in a resolution up to 1080p60. The Sumo creates an Apple Final Cut XML file when using multi-stream recording.
Production-Grade Build Quality
The aluminum alloy chassis houses 10 mounting points around the top, bottom, and side. A rear panel VESA mount and an included stand provide a variety of mounting configurations.
Versatile I/O Options
Seamlessly connect an SDI or HDMI device and convert between HDMI 2.0 and SDI (Quad 3G/6G/12G) in any combination. Quad SDI inputs connect cameras with multiple 1.5 or 3G-SDI outputs. HDMI 2.0 supports up to DCI 4K and UHD input and output. In addition, the latest Atomos open protocol supports HDR automation, including the import of camera settings. There is also support for Genlock and LTC timecode.
Capture the raw data stream output from compatible Sony, Canon or Panasonic cameras. SDI capture up to 5.7K at 30p (with compatible cameras) is possible. Capture formats include ProRes Raw/Raw HQ, Cinema DNG, 10-bit Apple ProRes, or 10-bit Avid DNxHR.
Using multiple inputs, you can record and play back up to four HD video channels, live. Switch and mix a live recording, and stream or record four HD ISO recordings.
Built-In XLR Audio
Full-size XLR connect and power external microphones. The result is balanced analog audio with dedicated meters. A 3.5mm stereo headphone jack and built-in speakers provides playback review with clients or the production team.
The AtomHDR engine drives the Sumo’s 19″ 1920 x 1080 10-bit LCD panel . This maps log, PQ, or HLG video feeds from popular cameras to resolve 10-stop HDR in real time. The brightness range and vivid colours of HDR bring scenes to life.
Daylight-Viewable LCD Screen
The bright 1200 cd/m² display means you can accurately monitor SDR signals, even when outside in full daylight.
Calibrate the Atomos Sumo to compensate for the natural colour and brightness drift that monitors exhibit over time. The Sumo’s calibration input lets you use X-Rite’s separately available i1Display Pro to always ensure accurate HDR and REC. 709 monitoring.
Finally, dual 4-pin XLR inputs for power means that the Sumo can automatically switch power sources should one stop providing power. A power bracket supplies the Sumo with power from V-Mount batteries. When one battery dries up, you can hot-swap it for a fresh one without interrupting the shoot.
