Description
The Sony PVM-A250 is a 25″ OLED reference monitor built for colour-critical work on set. Its TRIMASTER EL panel can switch each pixel fully off, so black levels and contrast hold up under close scrutiny from a DIT cart, video village or grading suite.
OLED panel built for accuracy
Because every pixel can be switched off individually, the PVM-A250 reproduces deep blacks without the glow or blooming that flat-panel LCDs show in dark scenes. Grey-to-grey response is also faster than LCD, so fast motion stays clean during playback review.
The panel drives at RGB 10-bit and covers a wide colour gamut, with support for ITU-R BT.2020, DCI-P3, S-Gamut/S-Gamut3/S-Gamut3.cine, sRGB and Adobe RGB. As a result, it can act as a trustworthy reference whether the project is finishing in Rec.709, DCI-P3 or a wider gamut.
Wide viewing angle for group monitoring
Viewing angle is rated at 89° in all four directions before contrast drops below 10:1, which is wide even by OLED standards. That matters when a director, DP and client are all reading the same frame from different seats around video village, since the image doesn’t shift in contrast or colour off-axis.
Connectivity covers the formats a production actually uses: two 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs with loop-through, one HDMI (HDCP) input and one composite input, plus a computer input for signal chain checks. At approx. 6.1kg, it’s light enough to rig on a cart or stand without needing a dedicated support arm.
Where it fits on a shoot
Productions bring in the PVM-A250 wherever a monitor needs to be trusted, not just watched: DIT and colour-critical on-set review, director and client monitoring at video village, or as a truck reference in a broadcast or live production environment. Because it’s a genuine reference-grade panel rather than a consumer display, footage viewed on it matches what a grading suite will show later.
