Description
The Laowa Nanomorph is a compact, lightweight Super 35 anamorphic set with a 1.5x squeeze ratio, in this kit with neutral (silver) flares. Amber and Blue flare versions are also available.
This EF-mount set pairs natively with Canon EF cinema and DSLR bodies — the Canon C-series, EOS Cinema and DSLR range — with no adapter required, and adapts to Sony E-mount or Micro Four Thirds via a passive EF adapter. The initial release covers 27, 35 and 50mm, with markings in metres and feet and standard 0.8 MOD cine gears. All lenses share a 77mm front filter thread, and a 13-blade iris gives soft, pleasing bokeh.
1.5x Squeeze
The 1.5x ratio balances size against anamorphic intensity — a 16:9 sensor de-squeezes to 2.66:1, with room to crop into 2.4:1 widescreen. Oval bokeh and a creamy background separation give the image an artistic anamorphic character.
