The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II improves on one of the most acclaimed lenses in Canon’s EF line — faster, sharper, and with stronger optical quality than the original.
Optics
One fluorite and five ultra-low dispersion elements deliver sharp images with reduced aberration. IS II stabilisation gives up to 4 stops of correction, with separate modes for still subjects and for panning with movement. An ultrasonic focus motor gives fast, smooth, silent autofocus, with full manual override.
Handling
Minimum focus is 1.2m across the full zoom range, with a focus range limiter (1.2m-infinity or 2.5m-infinity) for faster acquisition. A round aperture gives pleasing bokeh, and dust/moisture sealing matches the rest of Canon’s L-series line. A removable, rotatable tripod collar is included.
