How Polarisers Work
Reflected light becomes polarised; a polarising filter selects which of those light rays reach the lens, removing unwanted reflections from water or glass and boosting colour saturation and contrast. The effect is visible through the viewfinder and adjusts as the filter rotates, strongest at 90° to the sun.
