Description
The Sony A7 V is a hybrid full-frame mirrorless camera built for productions shooting both stills and video on the same day. A 33MP partially stacked sensor and BIONZ XR2 processor deliver fast autofocus alongside detailed 7K-oversampled 4K footage.
Sensor and Processing
The 33MP Exmor RS sensor uses a partially stacked design for faster readout and reduced rolling shutter. Dynamic range reaches 16 stops, with a native ISO range of 100 to 51,200. Electronic shutter speeds up to 1/16,000 sec suit fast action.
The BIONZ XR2 processor adds a dedicated AI unit for autofocus, colour and white balance consistency across a shoot. Continuous shooting reaches 30fps with full-time AF/AE and blackout-free viewing.
Autofocus
759 phase-detection points cover 94% of the frame. The AI unit recognises humans, animals, birds, insects, vehicles and aircraft, with Real-time Eye AF and human pose estimation holding focus on a chosen subject even when others cross the frame.
Video and Stabilisation
4K recording uses the full sensor width up to 60p, oversampled from 7K for extra detail. Switching to a Super 35 crop enables 4K 120p slow motion. The camera supports 10-bit 4:2:2, S-Cinetone and S-Log3, with LUT import for accurate on-set monitoring.
5-axis in-body stabilisation delivers up to 7.5 stops of compensation, and Dynamic Active Stabilisation adds further correction for handheld video. The body is magnesium alloy with full weather sealing, dual card slots, full-size HDMI and dual USB-C.
