Hire Terms and Conditions
Hire Period Definitions:
Day: A 24 hour period, beginning when equipment leaves Camera Hire's premises.
Weekend:Friday afternoon until Monday morning (before 12pm).
Week: A seven day period (e.g Tuesday - Tuesday). Equipment should be returned before midday.
General Conditions
The acceptance of equipment by the Hirer, or his agent, implies total acceptance of these terms and conditions, which cannot be changed, in part or whole, by any representative of Camera Hire, expressed or implied.
Collection and Return of Equipment
Rental charges commence from the time and date the equipment leaves Camera Hire's premises and terminate when equipment is received back at Camera Hire's premises.
Should the hirer fail to return the equipment by the due date and time, the hire charge payable will be the daily hire charge for the equipment concerned, for each overdue day. Transit times are considered part of the rental period.
Should the Hirer not return equipment 24 hours after the due time, without prior arrangement with Camera Hire, the rented goods will be considered stolen and the Police notified immediately. The rental charge will continue until all equipment is returned.
Any carriage or packaging charges will be charged to the Hirer. Camera Hire cannot accept any liability, consequential or otherwise, for any delay in transit causing late arrival of any equipment.
Lost or Damaged Equipment
All Equipment hired from Camera Hire must be returned complete and undamaged. Any lost, unreturned, or damaged equipment will be charged to the hirer. All, or part of the security deposit paid by the Hirer will be used to replace or repair the equipment. Where the cost of repair or replacement of equipment exceeds the deposit amount, the Hirer will be charged in full for all repairs or replacement costs.
Cancellation
Cancellation of any booking must be made by email or phone and received by the Camera Hire no later than 24 hours prior to the intended start of any booking. Failure to comply with this may result in a charge equal to 50% of the scheduled rental charges.
Security Deposit & Payments
All equipment is hired against a security deposit. This deposit must be made with the payment for equipment hire. All hire payments should be made by direct deposit, or in cash on collection. The security deposit is made in the form of a credit card authorisation or in cash. Your credit card and one form of ID (such as a drivers license) will be scanned for our records. We accept both Visa and Mastercard credit cards for the security deposit.
No security deposit monies will be deducted from your credit card, unless equipment is returned in a damaged or incomplete state.
Rental and Deposit payments must be made in full before the goods leave the premise of Camera Hire.
On return of hired equipment an inspection will be made. If all hired equipment is present and in the same condition as when picked up, the security deposit will be refunded in full. Refunds will be paid using the same method as the deposit was made.
All credit card details and authorisations will be destoryed once all equipment is inspected and found to be in order.
Equipment Lists
All hired equipment has a list of accessories included in the hire package. These may include, but are not limited to, batteries, battery chargers, lens hoods, filters, cables, bags, cleaning equipment and lens caps.
The Hirer should check the equipment list and actual equipment carefully as goods not returned as per the equipment list will be deemed lost, and the Hirer charged for the replacement of the goods.
Incorrect entries on a rental invoice must be brought to the attention of Camera Hire at the time of pickup. Equipment lists can not be altered following removal of equipment from Camera Hire’s premises.
Hirer Skills
It is assumed that the Hirer, or his agent, has sufficient skills to operate hired equipment correctly. Camera Hire will endeavour to supply instructional literature when requested, however this cannot be guaranteed. It is the responsibility of the hirer, or the hirer's agent, to ensure the equipment being rented is suitable for the purpose intended.
Use of Hired Equipment
The Hirer shall not take any of the hired equipment out of Australia without the specific prior written consent of Camera Hire.
Equipment must not be used on any abnormal or hazardous assignments.
The equipment is not to be transported in, or used in, helicopters or light aircraft without Camera Hire’s specific written consent. The Hirer will not allow the equipment to be used in areas where it could be affected by salt water or atmospheric corrosion.
Liability
Camera Hire shall not be held liable for any loss or damage caused by rental equipment, whether to the Hirer or the Hirer’s property or any other person, firm or corporation. Camera Hire’s liability, if any, for supplying defective equipment to the Hirer is limited to a rebate of the rental fee charged. The Hirer hereby indemnifies Camera Hire and all employees, contractors, directors and affiliated parties from liability of any and all losses, damage, injuries, claims, demands and expenses of whatsoever kind of nature arising out of the use of the rented equipment.
